Raymer-Kepner

"Our Family Serving Yours"

In January of 1989, Milton Almond, John Raymer, Jr. and Murray McConnell officially opened Almond, Raymer & McConnell Funeral Home, Inc., located at the corner of Sam Furr ( Hwy 73 ) and Old Statesville Road ( Hwy 115 ) in Huntersville, NC. The establishment contains a chapel, four receiving rooms, two conference rooms and office space. It is a full service funeral home. Murray McConnell retired followed by Milton Almond. John Raymer Jr. became the sole owner in 1998 until the time of his death in May of 2009.

On April 1, 2011, the funeral home was purchased by John D. Kepner and James B. Kepner, owners of the Kepner Funeral Homes in Wheeling, West Virginia. John is a fourth generation funeral director. He and his wife Claudia moved to North Carolina and have made their home in the Lake Norman community. They are members of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius and the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce. John is also an active member of the Rotary Club of North Mecklenburg. In January of 2012 Jonathan Kepner, son of John and Claudia, graduated from Mortuary School and moved to Cornelius, NC to work in the family business.

On October 1, 2012, Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home & Cremation Services opened the first on-site crematory in North Mecklenburg County. Raymer-Kepner is also the exclusive "Cremation With Confidence" provider.

Kepner Funeral Homes have been serving the Wheeling area for over 180 years. It is the oldest funeral business in the Wheeling area and seven generations have provided dedicated service to the area's residents. Five generations of Kepners have been a vital part of that dedication.
