Ronald Hutcherson

Ronald Hutcherson, 79, passed away on August 25th, 2022 peacefully at home in Polk City, Florida surrounded by his loving family. Ron Hutcherson was born on April 24th, 1943 in Keokuk, Iowa to Leon Hutcherson and Zelma Steffen Hutcherson.

Ron graduated from Keokuk, Iowa in 1961 and went on to earn championship Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) 1972, 1973, and 1974. He took over his father's place of business as an owner and operator of Streeters Paint and Wallpaper in Keokuk, Iowa. In 1985 he moved to Denver, North Carolina to start his career in racing as part owner with his brother Dick at Hutcherson Pagan ENT. Which he ended up buying Dick out and becoming the number one parts distributor for all the race teams in Nascar, he retired and sold the business in 2008.

Ron married Joyce Martin June 7th, 1964 in Keokuk, Iowa. The couple had 2 children, Rick Hutcherson, and Roni Hutcherson; 3 grandchildren, Josh (Meghin), Travis (Hayley), and Austin. Ron met Sherry Taylor in May of 2017 and they spent every moment together since. They married on 2-22-22.

Travis and Hayley came to Grandpa's aid in helping take care of Ron in his last two weeks of need. We would like to thank Donnie Coyner for coming and seeing "pops" in his final days. Ron always thought of you as one of his kids.

Ron was best known for the love of racing, boating and traveling in his motor home. Ron loved being around his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered by his dry sense of humor, huge heart and the sparkle in his eye when he smiled. Ron was a very humble man. Ron loved to work and would lend a helping hand to anyone that asked him.

Ron is survived by his wife Sherry Gierke Hutcherson; his children Rick, Roni; and grandchildren.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents Leon and Zelma; his wife Joyce Martin Hutcherson; and his brother Dick Hutcherson.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM (The service will be available to watch via LIVESTREAM beginning at 10:50 AM). Interment will be held at 3:00 PM, at Comers Rock Cemetery, Elk Creek, VA. The family has requested that you dress in appropriate racing apparel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, 2:00 PM at Elks Fairview Golf Course, Keokuk, Iowa.
